Volunteer Spotlight
The Elham Valley Line Trust is run entirely by volunteers, and every single one of them plays a vital role in keeping this special place alive. From maintaining the buildings and grounds to welcoming visitors and running the tea room, our team gives thousands of hours each year to the trust.
Volunteering at the trust is about more than just work. It is a community. Our volunteers come from all walks of life and range in age from teenagers gaining work experience to retirees sharing decades of knowledge and enthusiasm. What they all have in common is a love for heritage and a desire to share it with others.
There are all sorts of ways to get involved. If you enjoy being outdoors, you could help maintain the grounds, tend the gardens or keep the Tangled Trail in shape. If you prefer meeting people, the tea room and ticket desk are always looking for friendly faces. For those with practical skills, there is always restoration and maintenance work to be done on the buildings and displays.
Perhaps the most coveted role is driving the miniature train. Our train drivers undergo training and take great pride in giving visitors a memorable ride around the grounds. If that sounds like your cup of tea, we would love to hear from you.
